  1. The term "dawn raid" in business, is the
  2. sudden and unexpected buying of a significant
  3. proportion of a company's shares, usually as
  4. a prelude to a takeover bid. The aim is to 
  5. prevent the target company from having time 
  6. to organize opposition to the takeover. 
  7. The term also refers to a police raid in the
  8. early hours of the morning.
